How I hunt: I like to hunt primarily wilderness areas on my own out of a backpack. I prefer 5 to 7 day hunts, but have done longer when needed. I don’t mind hunting with a partner as long as they can take care of themselves in the Wilderness if and when we separate. I can’ think of a better way to wake up in the morning than high a top a ridge, glassing a huge basin, putting a trophy Blacktail to bed and figuring out a way to stalk over and put an arrow in it. If that plans all works out, nothing better than making a long haul out of the wilderness with your trophy and camp on your back. That type of hunting is as good as it gets for me. I am trying to take most of my game currently with just archery equipment, but will never the less hunt with my rifle if a tag needs filling.
Pro-staff Tip: Don’t let the difficulty and distance of the pack out dictate whether or not you will shoot a trophy animal. Get them on the ground and then work hard to get out.
