Spring Turkey: What is your weapon of choice?

With Spring turkey season lurking just 4 days away what is your choice of weapon when heading out after big California Gobblers? Are you hunting them with your shotgun, or are you looking to drop the sting on a wary old tom with your bow? Here at Relentless we prefer to hunt with our bows out of double bull blinds, but we are not afraid to pull out the trusty 12 ga. and bag a bird or two with the gun as well. What is your preference?

“This Probably Isn’t Gonna Work”

My 11-year-old daughter Erin had been a willing student in her Hunter Education class as a nine year old. She read the materials along with my grandfather and passed the test with a nearly perfect score. In her second season of hunting turkeys, I wanted to keep her enthusiasm for the sport high. It was late winter when my buddy Mike Wash and I were looking through the California Bowmen Hunters trophy record book, discussing the quality of animals we are fortunate enough to pursue in California. After seeing the different species of animals and their trophy scores, Mike made the comment that the wild turkey record was the one record we could possibly achieve.
